About Tallinn

Tallinn: Where Medieval Charm Meets Modern Vibes 🏰✨

Tallinn, the charming capital of Estonia, effortlessly blends medieval history with modern innovation. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town, with its cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and medieval architecture, feels like stepping back in time. Wander through the picturesque squares, visit historic landmarks like the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and the Tallinn City Hall, or take in stunning views from Toompea Hill. Beyond the Old Town, Tallinn’s trendy cafes, art galleries, and vibrant nightlife add a contemporary twist to the city’s ancient charm. With its rich cultural heritage, scenic beauty, and welcoming atmosphere, Tallinn is a hidden gem just 2 hour ferry ride away from Helsinki, Finland.

Traveling from the Airport to the City

I opted for an Uber because they are readily available, quite cheap and most convenient. However, there are also local buses.

Getting Around

Mostly walkable city if you are planning to cover the most touristic spots. I remember walking around 14 kms covering whole city in a single day without using any cab or public transportation. Although again uber is a great budget option if you need to get around somewhere.

Incase you are interested in public transport, details here - https://www.visittallinn.ee/eng/visitor/plan/transport/public-transport

Summers:

I visited Tallinn during the summer, and it was absolutely magical! The city was alive with vibrant colors, as the streets were lined with blooming flowers and lush greenery. The views were nothing short of breathtaking, with the medieval Old Town bathed in sunlight and the picturesque rooftops stretching out to the sparkling sea. The warm weather brought a lively energy to the city, making every corner feel welcoming and full of life. Whether I was strolling through the cobblestone streets or relaxing in the parks, Tallinn in summer truly showcased its beauty at its fullest!

Winters:

The Christmas Market in Tallinn is a winter wonderland that feels like stepping into a holiday fairy tale. Located in the heart of the medieval Old Town, the market is filled with twinkling lights, festive decorations, and the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread in the air. Stalls offer everything from handcrafted gifts and local treats to cozy woolen scarves, making it the perfect place to find unique souvenirs. The centerpiece of the market is the beautifully decorated Christmas tree, surrounded by carolers and the cheerful hustle and bustle of holiday cheer. Tallinn’s Christmas market is a must-visit for anyone looking to embrace the magic of the season! 🎄✨
