Copenhagen, the charming capital of Denmark, perfectly embodies the essence of Scandinavian elegance and style. With its picturesque canals, colorful buildings, and vibrant culture, it’s a city that blends history with modernity. From the iconic Nyhavn harbor to the serene Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen offers a wealth of experiences. Don’t miss the chance to explore the innovative food scene, including world-renowned restaurants like Noma, or stroll through the historic district of Frederiksstaden, home to the beautiful Amalienborg Palace. Copenhagen’s welcoming atmosphere, rich design heritage, and eco-friendly vibe make it a must-visit Scandinavian gem.

Getting from the Airport to the City

The most economical option is take Public Transport, which is excellent in Copenhagen I purchased a 24-hour public transport pass 90 DKK (about 12 Euros and took the Metro, which connects directly from the airport, making it very convenient.

The Metro operates 24/7. You can use the DOT app to purchase tickets and check the.

Alternatively, you can opt for a taxi. While Uber is unavailable, local taxi apps like Taxa can be used, but are more expensive compared to public transport.

Time of Visit

I visited Copenhagen in December, right when the Christmas markets were in full swing, and the entire city was beautifully decorated for the season. The festive spirit was everywhere, from the charming Christmas lights to the twinkling decorations at every corner. The ice rink was a highlight, offering the perfect winter experience. Magasin du Nord, with its spectacular holiday display, was a sight to behold. I also had the chance to experience the Christmas special at Tivoli Gardens, which was absolutely magical and filled with fun. Although the weather was a bit rainy, it didn’t dampen my spirits—Copenhagen's holiday charm made every moment unforgettable.

Christmas Markets

Copenhagen is a winter wonderland during the holiday season, with its charming Christmas markets scattered throughout the city. Here are three of the best to visit:

Christmas at Tivoli Garden

One of Copenhagen’s most iconic spots, Tivoli Gardens is transformed into a Christmas wonderland during the festive season. It's not just an amusement park—it's a magical holiday experience! ✨🎢

Nyhavn Christmas Market

Set along the stunning Nyhavn canal, this market is a picture-perfect holiday spot! Think festive stalls, cozy vibes, and those ooh moments when you see it for the first time. 🌟🎁

Kongens Nytorv Christmas Market

Just a short walk from Nyhavn, Kongens Nytorv Christmas Market by the Royal Theatre is small but full of festive charm. Perfect for a holiday stroll in the heart of Copenhagen! 🎭❄️

Hans Christian Andersen Christmas Market

Located in the Strøget shopping district, this charming market celebrates Denmark’s famous storyteller, Hans Christian Andersen. A must-see for book lovers and Christmas enthusiasts alike! 🎅✨

Højbro Plads Christmas Market

Possibly my favorite of them all! This cozy, quaint market in the city center has all the holiday magic of the others, but with a special, intimate touch. ❤️🎄
